In a surprising twist, this June, my beauty favourites consisted of things I’ve rediscovered from oldies I used to love using. And even those I didn’t particularly care for in the past. My skin has taken a breakout attack from my bedridden days in April. I came down with allergic conjunctivitis for several weeks, actually as I’m typing this I’m still dealing with it. During this downtime, I had breakouts on the right side of my cheeks mostly (someone tell me what that’s about). Fortunately, soon as I got out of sick mode, my skin started to get better. Naturally, I became self-conscious over the scars. Hence, to tackle my acne scars and pimples I took both skincare and makeup measures. I started applying makeup to cover the imperfections. But, I proceeded with caution, taking acne preventive measure both before and after applying makeup. Which ultimately helped in changing my skin for the better.
Lush Tea Tree Water: This is a skin care product that has helped me with my skin care/condition, even though I use it as a makeup product. I use this Toner Water as a setting spray. It actually works great in setting my makeup – which stays on fleek all day long. The extra benefit I reap from this product is also acne control, Tea Tree has antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. My skin is so sensitive that a few hours after I apply makeup my skin starts to produce pimples. However, I find that when I use this product it is far less likely to occur, and it has even reversed pimples that are starting to form before they come to term. Read this post to find out more details about my rave on this product.
Real Technique Sponge: This month I’ve pulled up my beauty sponge and I can’t seem to put it down. It has become the perfect companion to my foundation mix. I don’t think using a brush would have given me the desired results. To be honest, I feel like I’m using a new product altogether, perhaps I allow it to be a bit damper than I used to or something.
Vaseline: As I said earlier, I had chronic eye allergies that lasted a while. As a result, my eyelids were extremely dry and crusty. In a desperate attempt to salvage my lids, I reached for the most basic moisturising product that won’t be runny or dry out quickly. It wasn’t long before I became a witness to the magical repair of Vaseline as an eye cream. My eyelids quickly recovered, within a few days of use, my lids were significantly less dry and crusty. I was amused at how smooth and soft my lids became within 2-3 days of use.
Jordana Complete Cover Foundation + Inglot Mattifying Primer: The combination of these two products is heaven-sent. The thing about the combination is that it instantly turns your foundation into a matte foundation. Which applies like a dream, with a more even coverage. Most importantly, I’m able to touch my face without any transfer WOOOHOO. – Never been quite so confident to wear foundation. Also, I noticed that I need very very little of the mixture for a full and flawless coverage. I even try to mix less product but still end up with left over mixture.
Clarisonic MIA 2 + Shiseido Ibuki Gentle Cleanser: When I use my Clarisonic with my La Roche Posay purifying gel, it’s evident that I don’t get the same feeling as I do when I use this combo. Although, when I use the Ibuki Gentle Cleanser alone my face feels dry and taut. However, the combination of these two together; gives my face a fresh and soft feel, plus I get significantly fewer breakouts. Not to mention that when I’m religious about using the combo every night, my acne scars noticeably fade
